Cancer lips. Lipsticks and gloss are a danger?

Author: admin | Files under Oral care

It seems to prefer a look that soap and water is for us women a real act of prevention of diseases such as cancers of the mouth.  In fact, according to a study conducted recently by a team of dermatologists at the renowned Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas in Texas and coordinated by Dr. Christine Brown, the lipstick and gloss that commonly use increase the risk of occurrence of cancer of the lips.
This type of cosmetic seemingly innocuous would have the power to attract ultraviolet radiation harmful to our health.  For this reason, protecting the lips during a brief exposure to the sun is as important as protecting the skin of the face and body with sunscreen and is essential to apply appropriate protection even under the lipstick. Carcinoma of the lips is 12% of cancers that affect the area of the head and neck and, according to data from the U.S. National Cancer Institute; the incidence is higher among people of Caucasian race.  To be most affected is the lower lip (93% of cases).  In addition to the wild in the sun, other risk factors are represented by smoking (not just cigarettes but also of pipe) and the ‘alcoholism, as well as poor oral hygiene.
30% of cases this type of cancer spreads to lymph nodes.  More reason, stresses Brown, to run the repair and add to our bag for the beach also stick a protective lip, of course, follow the usual recommendations: Avoid exposure to the sun without protection especially during the hours the hottest of the day and say, albeit reluctantly, with an emphatic no sun at all costs. Finally, early detection can be of great importance, and therefore careful not to overlook suspicious lesions of the mouth and lips that are struggling to heal.
